Custom Patches for Behringer 2600: Retromania (50 Vintage/Retro Presets) Sound Demo/No Talking

video upload by Anton Anru

"«Retromania» is a collection of 50 patches for Behringer 2600. It includes 15 basses, 14 Leads, 13 Plucks, 8 Pads.
📼 Get the soundset: https://bit.ly/3snGeRM
The soundset is suitable for Retrowave, Synthwave, Pop, Electronica, Lo-fi, Electro, Disco, Cinematic and Video Game Music in Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk genres… for everything that is associated with Vintage, Retro, Old…
You will find well-known timbres here: huge and light basses, singing leads that work great for solos, punchy plucks for arps and seqs, warm analog pads with evolving modulations.

The soundset is presented in the form of PDF-Document. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters worth tweaking during the playback, how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn lots of things about the synth and discover its true depth.

Each patch has an audio example, it helps to understand how a patch is supposed to sound. To recreate these patches you need up 8 patch cords.

Miami Vice and Melrose Place Oberheim DPX-1 Vintage Sample Player?

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

The SN appears to be 750645 which was listed back in 2017 here - same marks on the back. Note the description for the new listing states this was owned by Tim Truman with a note on it being used on Miami Vice and Melrose Place, but there's no mention of that in the previous post.

"Here is a fine example of the classic DPX-1. It can playback various sample formats such as from the Ensoniq Mirage, Emulator II, etc. This unit has been owned by Tim Truman originally, composer of the theme to Melrose Place among many other pieces of music for TV/FILM.

The following upgrades have been installed:

- PSU recapped by Andrei Kudryavtsev
- Floppy drive replaced with HXC Rev F floppy emulator
- OS upgraded to latest version

The PSU on the DPX is notorious for blowing capacitors, so having your DPX recapped is an absolute must. With these upgrades you can be confident that your DPX will give you years of trouble-free use. I'm including some of Tim Truman's personal sound disks. The 5.25" floppies are included as-is, while the 3.5" floppies have been converted into images to use with the emulator.

Also, I have put many other sample collections onto the SD card such as the Ensoniq Mirage library. Everything works 100 percent on this and sounds great. Please feel free to message me any questions about it, thanks!"

Download size: 2,47 GB (3,86 GB uncompressed samples)
System requirements: STRAYLIGHT needs a fast CPU to run and requires an Intel i7 processor or higher.

"STRAYLIGHT was built in collaboration with Frank Elting and The most human colors, a boutique instrument and sound design agency. The instrument was also developed in consultation with composer Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Minority Report, Fear The Walking Dead, Rainbow Six: Siege).

Craft unique cinematic soundscapes, transitions, and ambient tones in real-time. Built for sound designers and film, TV, and game composers, STRAYLIGHT is ideal for everything from post-apocalyptic sci-fi to gritty thrillers. It combines specialized grain and sample playback modules with carefully captured sound sources, effects, and a powerful performance-based X-Y modulation matrix, allowing inspirational dynamic performance and sound design, direct to picture.

THE GRANULAR ENGINE

STRAYLIGHT has a bespoke granular engine that places the source audio into a powerful and specialized – yet easy-to-use – interface. Harness lush, organic timbres that can defy time and pitch, yet still retain the pristine character of the source sounds (strings, glass, stone, membranes, and more), and sonically evolve over time (risers and transitions can adapt automatically to project tempo).

Small sounds can be vastly magnified in size and scope without sacrificing their sound quality or character. The granular engine is then paired with a layer from the sample module, offering the same level of editing and modulation.

PERFORM REAL-TIME MODULATION

STRAYLIGHT’s modulation and effects sections ensure a fast, creative workflow. The precise X-Y control enables expressive direct-to-picture performance and detailed control over intensity and timing. Apply and modulate up to 14 different effects – taken from nine different categories: Filters, dynamics, EQs, gaters, drivers, modulation, delays, utilities, and reverbs. STRAYLIGHT even includes specially captured reverb impulse responses, selected to complement its audio content and granular engine.

Easily assign MIDI CC to the XY matrix, and use it in conjunction with master effects to ride intensity, direct to picture.

Both the granular and sample modules offer deep editing possibilities for personalizing the source sounds and intelligent randomization for generating new sounds quickly.

Use tempo-synced grain cursor speeds for creating perfectly timed transitions and risers.

Select up to four different effect types each for the grain and sample layers, plus four additional master effects, and two send effects – and you can assign parameters from all those effects to macros or the X-Y matrix.

Tag based browsing for both presets and sound sources makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. Tags even apply when randomizing the modules."

Matt Morton on Moog IIIc Modular Synth and the Apollo 11 Soundtrack

Published on Jun 3, 2018 Matt Morton Music

Playlist:

1. Moog IIIc techno sketch
Stumbled on this little sketch while I was taking a break from scoring (finishing up 'Apollo 11' which will premiere on opening night of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, and then hit theaters and TV in the spring/summer of 2019) and I was playing around with my Q963 trigger busses. Seems like the really fun ideas usually come when you're not looking for them too hard.

Gear used: Moog Synthesizer IIIc reissue, Soundgas modified Binson Echorec 2 (with varispeed and wet-only out), Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencers, trigger bus, signal selector, and foot control for filter cutoff, BAE 1073MPF mic preamps, Radial JDI direct boxes and ReAmp feeding the Binson (via RME Fireface 800)
2. Moog IIIc and valve varispeed Binson Echorec 2 T7E
This is me improvising on my 2017 Moog Synthesizer IIIc reissue, fed into a Soundgas Ltd. valve Binson Echorec 2 T7E (with varispeed and wet-only mods). The kick is a mixture of two sources: a kick I synthesized on the Moog using sine and triangle waves, and a kick I recorded from my 1967 Ace Tone Rhythm Ace. The eighth note bass line is coming from my Minimoog Model D reissue. For the main part (that you see me doing live), the dry signal is panned hard right, and the Binson's wet-only output (thanks Soundgas!) is panned hard left. I captured them with BAE 1073 MPF preamps and Radial JDI Jensen-equipped DIs. Also, the Moog-style sequencers (along with most of the other non-Moog modules I'm using) are by Synthesizers.com.
3. Matt Morton on Moog IIIc Modular Synth
This is a quick sketch on my 2017 Moog IIIc Modular Synthesizer Reissue (serial number 19 of 25 made). I'm also using modules by Synthesizers.com (including two Q960 sequencers) and STG Soundlabs (Post-Lawsuit Filter on the non-sequenced bass voice).

And from the Apollo 11 soundtrack:

The soundtrack is currently available on Amazon.

via Synthtopia

"The highly-acclaimed film (currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes) features a score by composer Matt Morton, who chose to score it using an expanded palette of orchestra + electronics – but only using instruments that would have been available in 1969.

Morton says that every instrument and effect used in the score existed at the time of the mission in 1969 including the Moog modular Synthesizer IIIc, the Binson Echorec 2 tube echo, the Mellotron sample playback keyboard and the instruments of the orchestra."

"Nostalgic for vintage sound encodings, 80s computer speakers, or the SPC Delay from a famous 16-bit console? chipcrusher's got all that, plus grit (background noise) and filter-impulse responses.

HOW DOES IT SOUND?
There is a wide spectrum of results achievable with chipcrusher. Here are a few use cases:

Uniquely destroy/mangle a beat, a guitar or any other audio track.
Play single hits and emulate the sound of old samplers.
Add ‘accurate dirt’ to chipsounds’s output.
Emulate a classic 16-bit console's "Delay/verb" to a track
There are four main components in chipcrusher: DAC Encoding, SPC Delay, Background Noise and Cabinet. The audio inputs first go to the DAC Encoding. Then gets processed by the SPC Delay, mixed with the Background Noise to finally get sent to the Cabinet stage. Of course, each component can be bypassed on demand without muting the audio.

And the press release:
"Dave Smith Instruments Announces Sequential Prophet X Synthesizer, Featuring Samples-plus-Synthesis Sound Engine

New Instrument Boasts Samples by Acclaimed Sound Developers 8Dio, Stereo Analog Filters, and Full Synthesis Capabilities

San Francisco, CA—May 1, 2018—Dave Smith Instruments today announced the Sequential Prophet X, a new, bi-timbral, 8-voice-stereo (16-voice mono) synthesizer that combines samples and synthesis. At the heart of its sound is a newly developed engine that powers two simultaneous 16-bit, 48kHz sample-based instruments plus two high-resolution digital oscillators with waveshape modulation — all processed through analog filters.

Dave Smith commented: “The Prophet X is a powerful evolution of the Prophet series. Musicians have been asking for samples through real analog flters for a long time. We’ve given them not only that, but also all of the synthesis capabilites and awesome sound you’d expect from a Prophet.”

For sample content, Dave Smith turned to acclaimed sound developers 8Dio, known for pioneering “deep sampling,” a detailed approach to sampling that aims to capture all of the nuances and idiosyncracies of a particular sound or instrument. 8Dio co-founder Troels Folmann put it this way: “We’re known for going anywhere and everywhere with sounds. We embrace all sounds as music and feel that if you can capture the musical soul of a sound, you can make it into an instrument. The Prophet X gives musicians a very immediate and responsive way to access this expressiveness.”

The 150 GB sample library in the Prophet X includes numerous acoustic and electronic instruments as well as an extensive collection of ambient and cinematic effects. Users can shape the samples through loop manipulation, sample stretching, and the synthesizer’s many sound-sculpting functions which include 4 envelope generators, 4 LFOs, a deep modulation matrix, and other tools. The Prophet X also provides 50 gigabytes of internal storage for importing additional samples. Several sample libraries will be available from 8Dio at launch. Support for user-created sample content is planned for December, 2018.

A dual-effects engine provides multiple reverbs, two delays (standard and BBD), a chorus, flanger, phase shifter, rotating speaker, high-pass filter, and distortion. In stacked or split voice mode, you can apply two different effects to each layer. Effects parameters can be modulated through the mod matrix as can the samples themselves. A polyphonic step sequencer allows up to 64 steps and up to 6 notes per step, per layer. The Prophet X features a premium-quality, five-octave, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch, an integrated power supply, USB support, and three OLED displays.

Dave Smith summed up the new instrument: 'Composers will love the Prophet X for soundtracks and synth geeks will love it for its sound mangling potential. But it’s really for everyone because it covers such a wide range of sounds. The new analog filter design we’re using is not only fantastic for synth sounds, but also does something special for the samples.” Added 8Dio co-founder Tawnia Knox: “The Prophet X has almost infinite posibilites. But more importantly, it has a soul. It’s alive. You can touch your sounds in a different way than you ever could.'

The Sequential Prophet X will be available in the second quarter of 2018 with a projected MAP of $3,999."

"Project Instructions: http://littlebits.cc/projects/8-bit-8...

The 8-bit Jukebox is a chiptune music box powered by littleBits' new Arduino module. The module is programmed with 4 different songs that playback with a retro, video-game-styled 8-bit sound. To select which song you would like to play, just insert one of the 4 song cartridges into a slot on top of the box. Embedded in each cartridge is a light filter with a different opacity. Inserting the cartridge triggers an LED to shine light through the filter, and a light sensor determines which song cartridge was inserted by reading the amount of light passing through the filter. Two different littleBits synth modules, Envelope and Delay, give you a chance to play with the audio single creating a more dynamic sound.

littleBits makes an open source library of electronic modules that snap together with magnets for prototyping, learning, and fun. Find out more at littleBits.cc"
